LEROY BONNER DEAD AT 69
Leroy Bonner, the frontman of the Ohio Players, a funk band who had great influence on the genre during the 70’s died on Saturday. He was 69.
His family announced his death on the Facebook page of Sugarfoot’s Ohio Players, a spinoff band that Bonner had been leading.
The family has not disclosed the cause of death.
Bonner, a singer and guitarist, better known by his nickname Sugarfoot, formed the Ohio Players in the 1960’s with other musicians.
The group is known for their string of hits such as “Love Rollercoaster”, “Fire”, “Skin Tight”, “Funky Worm” and other songs.
