R.I.P. DAVE BRUBECK Jazz musician DAVE BRUBECK died yesterday of heart failure. He was 91 . . . although he would've turned 92 TODAY. Dave and the DAVE BRUBECK QUARTET helped define the style of West Coast Jazz in the '50s. Dave was the quartet's pianist, and main composer. Even if you aren't into jazz, you should recognize their 1959 single "Take Five", off "Time Out", which was the first jazz album to sell more than a million copies. "Take Five" was the only song on the album NOT written by Dave. The quartet's saxophonist PAUL DESMOND composed it. Years ago, when asked in an interview about heaven he said, quote, "If there's a heaven, let it be a good place for all of us to jam together and have a wonderful, wonderful musical experience."
