The Label makes an Effort to Change fashion world’s preference for White Models

 
There’s a new face of fashion house Givenchy, her name is Erykah Badu. The R&B singer will represent the luxury label’s upcoming 2014 spring campaign.
 
The company’s creative director, Riccardo Tisci, came to this decision due to the reaction of the criticism, that the fashion industry tends to use primarily white models on the runway. As a result, he strongly believed that Badu was an obvious choice for the new collection, since it is inspired by the traditional costumes of Africa and Japan.
 
Tisci went on to praise Badu for her unique style and calls her an icon. He also explained, “What I want to do with my advertising campaign is spread the love. Already now it’s been three seasons that I’ve been using people that express something-” Tisci insists that Givenchy’s latest spokes model will make it clear that his company works with women of all ethnicity’s.
