ZERO DARK THIRTY TOPS BOX OFFICE
The number one movie at the box office this week was “Zero Dark Thirty”. The film about the manhunt for Osama Bin Laden had a great week this week not only being nominated for 5 Oscars but also taking in $24 million after going into wide release this past Friday.
Horror-spoof, “A Haunted House” took in $18.8 million in its box office debut. The film stars and is written by Marlon Wayans.
“Gangster Squad” starring an all-star cast of Josh Brolin, Ryan Gosling, Sean Penn, Nick Nolte and Emma Stone came in third this weekend bringing $16.7 million in its opening weekend.
Quentin Tarantino’s controversial film “Django Unchained” which also received 5 nominations brought in $11.1 million after 3 weeks of being at the box office. This brings its total to $125.4 million.
Les Miz rounds out the top five with $10.1 million, bringing the musicals total to $119.2 million. The movie also becomes the fifth-highest-grossing musical ever.
