Essence Celebrates Black Excellence In Film

2013 was an astonishing year for black actors and actresses in Hollywood as they shined and showcased their talents in acclaimed films and were considered for numerous award nominations.
Essence Magazine celebrates Black History Month with a feature that highlights some of the African American actors whom are making major moves on the big screen.
Sharing the cover of the March 2014 issue are “12 Years a Slave” star Chiwetel Ejiofor, “Fruitvale Station” actor Michael B. Jordan, and from “The Butler,” Forest Whitaker and his co-star Oprah Winfrey.
In this special March 2014 issue, each of the actors talk about their art and the variety of roles that had black cinema at the center of attention in 2013.
