Calypso King Of The World Moves Crowd To Tears
After rumors of his apparent death, Slinger Francisco (a.k.a The Mighty Sparrow) has woken up from a coma and returned to the stage.
The Calypso singer moved audience to tears as he made an appearance on stage at the Kaiso House Calypso Tent for the 2014 carnival season. Sparrow’s wife Margaret was by his side as he was warmly greeted by executive members of the Trinbago Unified Calypsonians Organisation (TUCO), including calypsonian Twiggy, Marvelous Marva and Duane O’Connor.
The 78-year old artist received and a near three-minute ovation before delivering a repertoire that included “Saltfish”, “Congo Man” and “Man in de Bedroom”. Sparrow told his appreciative audience, “Its carnival. I can’t miss the carnival.”
The eight time winning “Calypso King Monarch” resides in Trinidad and Tobago with his family and is looking forward to Carnival 2014.
