Oprah and Brad Pitt to Make A MLK Movie

Oprah Winfrey and Brad Pitt have been brought on as producers for a film about Martin Luther King, Jr. titled, Selma. Paramount is in final negotiations to acquire domestic distribution rights to Selma, a feature drama about Martin Luther King‘s 1965 landmark voting rights campaign regarded as the peak of the civil rights movement.
Writer DuVernay, the first Black woman to win Best Director at Sundance, came aboard the project in July, and rewrote the script before she slipped it to Winfrey.
Selma will be Winfrey’s second MLK project, the other is her Harpo produced seven-part HBO miniseries America: In the King Years.
Once the deal becomes approved, production will begin right away.
