Beyonce’s stunning performance at the inauguration of President Barack Obama is not without controversy.
The new conspiracy going on around Washington is that Beyonce lip-synced her rendition of Star Spangled Banner.
The London Times reported that Beyonce allegedly lip-synced to a pre-recorded backing track. The Marine Corps Band originally confirmed that Beyonce did indeed lip sync, however they have since retracted that statement.
Kristen DuBois, a spokeswoman for the Marine Corps Band told the New York Post, “All music is pre-recorded for the ceremony because there are so many eventualities and conditions that day. We performed, live, the band. But we received last-minute word that Beyonce was going to use a pre-recorded vocal track. Those were the instructions we were given. We don’t know the reason why.”
Whitney Houston’s 1991 rendition of the anthem was lip synced and in Obama’s 2009 inauguration ceremony, the cold temperatures caused cellist Yo-Yo Ma to fake his performance as well.
