IS ZOE ALL WRONG FOR THIS ROLE?

Actress Zoe Saldana will be playing the lead role in Nina, a biopic about the late Queen of soul Nina Simone. Famous for classics like “Feeling Good,” “strange Fruit” “To Be Young, Gifted, and Black,”  Nina was also an outspoken civil rights activist.
The film will focus on “the incredible life of the songstress whose incomparable performance style still enchants and haunts listeners today,” according to Cinemablend.
People are questioning zoe’s casting as she is a fair skinned latina woman while Simone was a dark skinned african american known for her unique look and for embracing her very strong african features.  Nina also has one of the most beautiful haunting voices in history. Zoe isn’t known for her singing…. critics are saying Adepero Oduye the award winning nigerian actress who starred in Pariah last year should take on the role especially since she bears a striking resemblance to Nina.

CEELO LOVES FOOTBALL!
For all my football fans, Cee Lo has re-worked the RAMONES’ 1976 classic “Blitzkrieg Bop” into a new song called “I Love Football”.  Obviously, the lyrics are different . . . but it keeps the chorus:  “Hey!  Ho!  Let’s Go!” The intro isn’t just video of Cee Lo performing the song, it’ll also include clips of football fans joining in.  Even better:  The opening will be different every week, and it’ll specifically feature fans of the two teams playing that night.
If you want to participate, just go to Fanthem.nfl.com and create a video of yourself performing “I Love Football”.  You can do the whole thing . . . just the “Hey!  Ho!  Let’s Go!” chant . . . or one of several other pre-selected options. Deck yourself out in your favourite teams gear and have fun!

Yes I totally agree! Casting Saldana in a role like that is so wrong on so many levels. When there are so many talented BLACK actresses out there who could play the role of Nina Simone just as competently, (if not better), not to mention realistically.
