AND THE NOMINEES ARE...
The nominees for this year's BET Awards have been announced.
KANYE WEST is up for seven awards . . . six of those are for WATCH THE THRONE, his collaboration with JAY-Z.  Jay-Z is nominated for five awards, and his wife BEYONCÉ got six nominations. SAMUEL L. JACKSON is hosting. While more acts will be announced later,  CHRIS BROWN and NICKI MINAJ are confirmed to be performing. The ceremony will air live on Sunday, July 1st.
THE NEW "MAGNIFICENT SEVEN"
TOM CRUISE will star in a remake of the classic 1960 Western "The Magnificent Seven".
The original is about Mexican villagers who recruit seven American gun fighters to protect them from bandits.  It starred Yul Brynner, Steve McQueen, Charles Bronson, Robert Vaughn, James Coburn, Horst Buchholz and Brad Dexter.
And technically, it wasn't all that original.  It was actually a remake of a 1954 Japanese movie called "Seven Samurai"
And for those of you who grew up watching these old black and white cowboy movies with your parents like I did, here's a clip... remember this Dad? lol
007 WANTS A HIENEKEN!!
They just don't make movies like they used to -- at least according to the guy who played James Bond in 1969, who's pissed the new Bond film has axed 007's signature martini ... in favor of a corporate-sponsored beer.  The people behind Daniel Craig's next Bond flick "Skyfall" closed a reported $45 million deal with Heineken -- forcing the iconic character to drink beer in the movie, instead of a vodka martini ... Bond's famous drink of choice. Bond orders the drink in practically every movie ever.  Devoted Bond fans everywhere are pissed -- a list that includes former James Bond actor George Lazenby, who played 007 in "On Her Majesty's Secret Service."
Lazenby says that cutting the martini in favor of a Heiney breaks a sacred tradition -- and to add insult to injury, "It's not the best beer out there, either."  Lazenby adds, it's sad filmmakers will always "go where the money is." I'm not even a James Bond fanatic but it is pretty disappointing since its became more than just a trademark it's a part of the character and iconography of James Bond.. But then again, everyone was up in arms about Daniel Craig being cast as Bond and the movie blew people away so maybe they will find a way to use this new drink and make it even more BOND... "Heiny.. cold not... warm?? " I don't know lol
