Pharrell Announces New Album “GIRL”

After scoring an Oscar nomination and four Grammys including Producer of the Year, the “Happy” hitmaker has announced a title and release date for his second solo album.   G I R L, his first project since 2006’s In My Mind, will arrive on March 3 via Columbia Records.   “When Columbia Records presented me with the opportunity to make an album, three things came to mind,” said Pharrell. “One was the sense of overwhelming honor that I felt when I realized that they were interested in partnering with me on the album that I had always dreamt of making. Two, it would have to feel festive and urgent. And three, I instantly knew it would be called G I R L. I hope you like it.”   The 10 tracks are now available for pre-order on iTunes featuring the first single “Happy,” which is currently No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100. The upbeat hit also appears on the soundtrack to the animated film Despicable Me 2.   Pharrell revealed the cover art and posted a 30-second trailer of him in the studio, laughing, crying, and recording with composer Hans Zimmer and an orchestra.   Watch below:     Source: Rap-Up/Image: Image: Rap-up
