First Public Performance of Song ‘Silent Night’

 
180 years ago in 1818, the carol “Stille Nacht! Heilige Nacht” or “Silent Night” composed by Franz Gruber and written by Father Joseph Mohr, was publicly performed for the first time during the Christmas Midnight Mass at the Church of St. Nikolaus in Oberndorf, Austria.
