The Amsterdam Jail Break Act Performed

Back in 1903, illusionist and stunt performer, Harry Houdini, escaped from a jail cell in a police station in Halvemaansteeg, Amsterdam.

Houdini gained his reputation as a “prison breaker” and performed his act in several towns around the world. His file contains hundreds of letters from police chiefs attesting that the escapes were real.

The Great Harry Houdini died on Halloween (October 31) in 1926, at the age of 52.
