Tyson Gay, Asafa Powell fail doping tests

America’s Tyson Gay and Jamaica’s Asafa Powell are just two names who have recently been linked to doping in a new scandal that has shocked the world of Track and Field.

Tyson Gay had to withdraw from Friday’s Diamond League meeting in Monaco and the world championships.

Former World 100 Meters record holder Asafa Powell and Olympic silver medalist Sherone Simpson said that they had both tested positive for the stimulant oxilophrine during last month’s Jamaican championships.

The drug is on the World Anti-Doping Agency banned list.

Powell in a statement said, “I am not now, nor have I ever been, a cheat.”

Simpson too, also denied taking a banned substance.

The managers for Usain Bolt and Yohan Blake said that their athletes were not involved.
