Pakistan were anchored by an unbeaten century from Shoaib Malik in day one of the first Test against England at Abu Dhabi. Malik, playing his first Test since 2010, hit 124 not out as part of Pakistan’s first-innings score of 286/4 at close of play on day one. That same century was linked to Mohammad Hafeez’s 98 for a second-wicket stand of 168. What’s more, Younis Khan became his country’s leading Test run scorer when he made 38. Bowling for England, James Anderson took 2/29 from 14 overs.
