Viola Davis Throws Shade at Her Critics!

At the 2015 People’s Choice Awards Wednesday night, actress Viola Davis took to the stage to accept the award for “Favorite Actress in a New TV Series” for her role as Annalise Keating on “How to Get Away with Murder”.

Davis used the moment to throw a sneaky shade at The New York Times, whose critic Alessandra Stanley referenced Davis in an article saying that Shonda Rhimes chose her even though she is “older, darker-skinned and less classically beautiful than Ms. Washington, or for that matter Halle Berry”.

After Davis thanked her fans, she went on to say “Thank you Shonda Rhimes, Betsy Beers, and Peter Nowalk for thinking of a leading lady who looks like my classic beauty,” she said with a twinkle in her eye. “I’m so happy that people have accepted me in this role at this stage in my career.”
