West Indies Test batsman Shiv Chanderpaul has received the Icon Award from the Indo-Caribbean Alliance at a ceremony held in New York City, where the Alliance is based. The Guyanese veteran says he’s pleased to be one of four people to take this honour. Chanderpaul has made more than 11,000 runs in 164 Tests, meaning he’s only second to Brian Lara in the Windies record books. However, he was overlooked by selectors in May ahead of their Australia series, and he’ll also be missing the Sri Lanka tour next month.
