Windies coach Phil Simmons suspended ahead of Sri Lanka tour

Phil Simmons has been suspended as West Indies coach with immediate effect, just six months after he took the post, and two days after he publicly criticized the current ODI squad, captained by Jason Holder. Reports say a surprised Simmons was in England when he got word of the decision via email from WICB chief executive Michael Muirhead. This means Simmons won’t be joining the squad, and former Windies fast bowler and current national selector Eldine Baptiste will be the interim coach for the Sri Lanka series beginning October 14.
