World Cup 2015: Afghanistan take last victory before main event

The last World Cup warmup was won by Afghanistan, who beat the United Arab Emirates by 14 runs in Melbourne. Afghanistan made 308/9 from their 50 overs; Samiullah Shenwari with 58, and Najibullah Zadran with 46. As for UAE’s bowling, Amjad Javed took 4/39 from 10, Mohammad Naveed took 2/78 from 10, and Krishna Chandran took 2/42 from 9. The Emirates were bowled out for 294, as Khurram Khan made 86, and Chandran hit 49. Bowling for the Afghans, Aftab Alam took 3/43 from 6.2, and captain Mohammad Nabi took 2/43 from 10. The real work begins tomorrow as New Zealand face 1996 winners Sri Lanka in Christchurch, New Zealand, while 4-time champions Australia host England at the Melbourne Cricket Ground.
