World Cup 2015: Amla, du Plessis help Proteas flatten Ireland

Hashim Amla and Faf du Plessis did most of the heavy lifting for South Africa, who thrashed Ireland by a massive 201 runs in Canberra. Player of the match Amla hit 159 off 128 balls with 16 fours and 4 sixes. He also made a team-best 2nd wicket partnership of 247 with du Plessis 109. Rilee Rossouw was unbeaten on 61 and David Miller on 46, bringing the South Africans to 411/4 from 50 overs. Their Irish counterparts were bowled out for 210, despite scores by Andy Balbirnie 58 and Kevin O’Brien 48. Bowling for South Africa, Kyle Abbott picked up 4/21 from 8, and Morne Morkel took 3/34 from 9. This victory makes the Proteas the second team to win two straight ODI’s by 200 runs or more.
