It was a dangerously close one, but the West Indies can breathe a sigh of relief thanks to a narrow 3-run victory in their World Cup warmup match against Scotland at the Sydney Cricket Ground. Opener Dwayne Smith kicked off the Windies’ rally with 45, and the rest soon followed. Wicket keeper Denesh Ramdin 88, Lendl Simmons 55, and Darren Bravo 43 gave their side a total of 313/9 from their 50 overs. Scottish bowler Alasdair Evans took 3/63 from 10, and Josh Davey took 2/55 from 10. Kyle Coetzer opened with 96 but it was all in vain as Scotland fell short with 310/9 from 50 overs; Richie Berrington made 66. Bowling for the West Indies, Kemar Roach took 2/59 from 8, Andre Russell took 2/32 from 8 and Sulieman Benn took 2/47 from 10 overs.
