Actress Victoria Rowell, who has always been an advocate for racial equality and not quiet about it either, has slammed CBS and Sony with a racial discrimination lawsuit.
In legal documents, she alleges that the network, the producer(s) and others conspired to keep her off the air in retaliation for her public criticisms of the show’s alleged lack of diversity. Last year the 55 year-old actress tweeted “Young & Restless on air for 40 years, loyally watched by their absolute competitive-edge audience (blacks) & not ONE black Exec producer?”
Now she’s asking a judge to order CBS and Sony to hire her back to “Y &R” and “The Bold and The Beautiful” set without regard for her complaints of racial discrimination AND pay her back pay and other financial losses. Rowell played the role of ‘Drucella’ on the “Young and the Restless” soap opera.
The network says her case has no merit and they will defend this case vigorously.
