Toronto’s Black population is feeling the pain of the COVID-19 more than most Torontonians.
On November 23, Mayor John Tory announced an enhanced response program to target the hardest hit neighbourhoods in the city. Data complied by Toronto Public Health shows that COVID-19 is hitting Indigenous, Black or racialized and low income individuals more than other populations.
Expanded testing will occur in Scarborough and the northwest parts of the city. Other enhancements include broader sharing of public health information and increased public transportation to the testing sites.
