G987FM BESTOW TITLE OF COVID CARE CHAMPION ON 200 FRONT LINE WORKERS

TORONTO DECEMBER 16, 2020

G987FM is proud to recognize and designate as COVID Care Champions the frontline workers across the province for their unwavering commitment in the battle against the COVID-19 global pandemic.

The objective is to honour and confer this special title of “COVID Care Champion” on 200 front line workers nominated by anyone for their outstanding contribution by December 20th. Since the launch of this initiative on December 2nd, 2020, G987FM, has been overwhelmed with more than 150 nominations in the first two weeks for COVID Care Champions on the frontlines in healthcare, food distribution, manufacturing, education, telecommunications, and other industries across the GTA.

“These individuals are fighting this pandemic while risking their own health everyday they are on the job. “We want to thank them for their resilience in this effort to save lives and to keep us all healthy,” said Delford Blythe, Founding Director and Station Manager of G987FM’s parent company, Intercity Broadcasting Network Inc. “Working with our corporate partner, Michel Germain Parfum Ltd, we are honoured to put some sweet fragrance behind their mask for Christmas in the form of perfume gift sets.”

“In November, I celebrated my 34th year working in the healthcare sector and this is the first time I’ve received a gift for my service. Thank you G987FM and the team for thinking of us. It’s greatly appreciated,” said Valerie Rattray, Personal Support Worker.

In addition, as a special recognition, one lucky COVID Care Champion will also receive $987, in cash, during the Mark & Jem morning show on December 24th.
