For the first time since 2005, the Toronto Raptors are 0-3 to start the 2020-2021 NBA season and tied for last in the Eastern Conference after losing 100-93 against the Philadelphia 76ers on Dec.29.
The Raptors’ defence played better than their previous game against San Antonio, where they lost 119-114. Toronto held the 76ers to a 38 percent field goal percentage, but the offence was scoreless over the final five minutes of the third quarter and scored only 17 points in the fourth.
According to Kyle Lowry, the team is not on the same page and they’re in a bad spot.
“We’re not on the same page but we’re working towards that. It’s just that right now we’re adding a couple of new guys, new positions and new roles and this and that and I think the shortened pre-season, the short time off, guys are still getting their legs under them a little bit,” said Lowry.
“[But] we don’t have time to waste no more, we’re 0-3 and we need a win really, really bad. I feel like we’re getting to that point where it’s a must-win. We gotta do everything we possibly can to win the next game.”
The Raptors next game is a New Year’s Eve clash at home in Tampa Bay with the visiting 2-2 New York Knicks.
