What is a Rooftop Unit
A rooftop unit is a single packaged air conditioning that is installed on your roof. Traditional central air conditioning systems (the kind installed in residential settings) are split. This means there is an indoor unit and an outdoor unit. This setup can limit capacity, however, and create problems if there isn’t enough indoor space to house the indoor unit.
A rooftop unit contains all of the components needed in an air conditioning system. The compressor, condenser coil, evaporator coil and condenser fan are all housed in a single box that is then placed on the roof of your building. Because it is on the roof, it can be as large as it needs to be. Additional benefits of this setup include the option for your rooftop unit to be a heat pump and provide heat in the winter months should it ever be necessary (alternately, your system can contain an internal gas or electric furnace for winter heating).
A JCJ Mechanical rooftop unit can also contain humidistat technology to control humidity and with fresh air ventilation, a specific amount of fresh air is introduced into the system to assist your ventilation system in keeping indoor air clean.
