The West Indies were just celebrating their record-breaking World Cup success over Zimbabwe, but South Africa crashed the party with a few records of their own. Proteas captain AB de Villiers hit the fastest 150 ever in the ODI format to seal their 257-run victory in Sydney. South Africa were already well on their way thanks to Hashim Amla 65, Faf du Plessis 62 and Rilee Rossouw 61. Then player of the match de Villiers smashed an unbeaten 162 off 66 balls, with 17 fours and 8 sixes. South Africa wrapped up their innings with 408/5 from 50 overs, the highest one-day total by any team on Australian soil. The Windies team couldn’t even reach de Villiers’ individual score; they were bowled out for 151. Skipper Jason Holder made 56, and no records for Chris Gayle today as he was dismissed for only 3 runs. Bowling for the Proteas, Imran Tahir took 5/45 from 10 overs.
