After a 14-year break from the world of Reggae festivals, Reggae Sunsplash returned to a dynamic virtual stage proving its intrinsic power to capture the hearts of reggae lovers all over the world. The festival resurrected in all its glory in the face of a pandemic that pulled in a mass of 100,000 people online from 28 countries. Despite the initial technical glitches, Friday’s opening of the two-night festival, November 27th eventually received startling engagement and fan support across the globe. Executive Producer Tyrone Wilson expressed his satisfaction with the turnout of the virtual show, as the festival trended up to #2 on twitter.

Night one showcased phenomenal musical talent including artistes such as Tanya Stephens, Richie Spice, and Capleton. Stephens raised the bar with tracks such as “What’s your story?” “Can’t Breathe” and “It’s a Pity.” Richie Spice followed with classics such as “Earth a Run Red” and “Ghetto Girl” and paved the way for Capleton to blaze the stage sending emojis flying in the cyber world with “Bun a Fire” andSmall World.”  The night was capped with the recognition and honor of the Crown Prince of Reggae, Dennis Brown, whose remarkable career garnered a slew of albums before his death, and his claim to fame as the all-time star of Lovers Rock.

Night two’s startling performances brought the Sunsplash Gig to a new level with acts from Agent Sasco, Romaine Virgo, Jesse Royal, Masicka and Dexta Daps. The eclectic blend of new and fiery performances showcased by these millennial artistes prove that Reggae Sunsplash is a force to be reckoned with and is irrefutably back with a vengeance!
