Afghanistan’s squad made history for their homeland. They saw their first ever World Cup victory as they got past Scotland by one wicket in Dunedin. The Scots posted 210 all out; Matt Machan and Majid Haq each made 31. Afghan bowler Shapoor Zadran picked up 4/38 from 10, and his teammate Dawlat Zadran took 3/29 from 10. Scotland were in for a shock when Afghanistan hit back with 211/9 from 49.3 overs. Man of the match Samiullah Shenwari made 96, and Javed Ahmadi made 51. Bowling for Scotland, Richie Berrington took 4/40 from 10 overs.
